A trip to Hong Kong demands style, while a trip to Guilin in mainland China demands comfort. Here is a remix of 12 pieces that will carry me from pretty to practical, all in one easy-to-carry-on bag.
Deeply pigmented reds and pops of neon yellow. Rustic browns and bright greens. These are the colors that wash across my mind when I think about Hong Kong. The vast bustling cities, the lush green mainland, the unflinching shocks of spring color and the earthy street grit are all images I've come to associate with China through books, film and music.
For this trip, I want to use earth tones like caramel, khaki and red for my main staples, and surround them with plenty of classic blue and white tones for layering.
